Thinking of planning a holiday or take a month off traveling? June is a fantastic month to choose, with so many friendly countries on offer, all with great weather and amazing experiences to be had. It’s the start of the summer months for many places throughout Europe, providing you with better weather to explore and discover some of the delights these countries and regions have to offer. You could even make a month of it with all the cities Europe has to offer. With so many to choose from, however, it can be a hard decision to make. That’s why we’ve whittled it down to some of the best places to visit in June. Happy traveling!
1. Basel
We mentioned Europe above and the first city on our list is Basel, Switzerland. With fantastic rooftop bars, a plethora of shops, and beautiful cafes and restaurants, it’s no wonder why so many people flock to this lovely Swiss city during June. The weather is usually hot and enjoyable, with a few thunderstorms along the way. If you’re a fan of art and architecture, June is a brilliant month to visit, with festivals and shows galore, giving you all the culture you need. Soak up the ambiance of the old town and enjoy your trip.
Top things to do whilst you’re there: explore the Basel Minster, enjoy the animals at Zoo Basel, and walk along the River Rhine.
2. Copenhagen
Copenhagen during June is truly wonderful. With so many quaint cafes and restaurants, all serving astonishing food and local beer, it’s no wonder why so many people choose to spend a long weekend in the capital of Denmark. Whether you choose to see the city by bike or just casually stroll through, the weather will always be on your side. Happy hour starts at 4 pm, giving you ample opportunity to see the delights the city has to offer, from its museums to galleries, and then you can enjoy the cooler evenings with the locals. Although Christmas is a wonderful time to visit Copenhagen, especially with the Christmas markets, this magical feeling doesn’t get left in the winter months, and you’ll see more of the city during June. Shopping is also a must-see activity in Copenhagen, with a range of amazing European stores and shops, as well as local trinkets.
Top things to do whilst you’re there: take in the well-known little mermaid statue, shop until you drop, visit Rosenborg castle, built way back in the 1600s.
3. Corsica
Corsica has so many amazing attributes and activities to explore, it’s hard to sum it up into just one paragraph. But if you’re looking for a beautiful island to visit in June, then it would be silly to pass up the opportunity to visit Corsica. Although technically part of France, the island is very definitely Italian in its culture, the delightful mix of the two brings a unique element. Visiting during June is advised, as the weather is beautiful, giving you a chance to explore all it has to offer. Take a yacht trip and just relax. With fewer crowds than in July, June gives you the opportunity to take your time and really live Corsica life.
Top things to do whilst you’re there: be awe-inspired at the Calanques de Piana, take a dip in the clear, blue waters, and for wine lovers, visit a wine estate.
4. Warsaw
Another European city on our list (we told you June was a great time to visit Europe!), Warsaw is the capital of the great country, Poland, and an ideal destination for a long weekend break. Although many people choose to visit Warsaw during the winter months, due to its romantic architecture and scenery, June allows you to see the city’s parks and natural elements in their splendor. With a plethora of museums and art galleries, Warsaw is ideal for those of you looking for a bit of culture in your life. The warmer temperatures allow you to enjoy watching the world go by, sat with a pint of the local lager, at one of the many cafes or restaurants.
Top things to do whilst you’re there: stroll through the streets of Warsaw Old Town, take in the grandeur of Lazienki Park, and get your photo opportunities at Castle Square.
5. Yosemite
The US has a plethora of places to visit, but if you’re looking to experience nature and get your hike on, then Yosemite National Park might just be the place for you. Particularly during June, this is a great place to visit, as the snow has cleared up, allowing you to see the park in all its glory, but the heat of the summer hasn’t stopped other natural elements from prevailing, such as the waterfalls. Flowers will be in full bloom and the weather will be clear, providing you with ample photograph opportunities, as well as creating amazing memories. This is a great place to visit, particularly if you have young children, who can explore the park with glee, spotting wildlife on the way.
Top things to do whilst you’re there: visit the Yosemite Valley Waterfalls, spot amazing wildlife, and even try your hand at rock climbing.
6. Fiji
Fiji is not a small trip, as if you’re visiting, you’re probably visiting from afar. However, if you are planning on going, consider June, as this is when the weather is at its best, but the prices are still lower than during the high season. With clear water and sandy beaches, it’s no wonder why this is such a popular destination. Ideal for honeymooners or those looking to find a bit of peace and quiet and romance, Fiji has a plethora of activities and excursions that will keep you on your toes, and then chill out in the evenings.
Top things to do whilst you’re there: put your snorkel mask on and swim your way through the many islands nearby, explore the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, and take a hike through the many amazing forests.
