Light Up The Sky With Nite Ize Light Up Frisbee
When I got word that I was testing frisbees, I was a bit worried that I wouldn’t be able to keep the testing as interesting as I like to. However, the Nite Ize Light Up Frisbee provided a perfect chance for creative testing and fun times. I took this illuminated disc on a climbing/camping trip where I knew we wouldn’t have many services. I thought a frisbee would be the perfect way to pass the time at camp, and a light-up frisbee meant we could continue that at night too. What I didn’t expect was how many silly games would ensue due to our drunken creativity.
At night, we’d throw this frisbee for hours. Some of the games we attempted were catching the frisbee on the top of your beer can (this works best with tallboys), trying to hit the frisbee while in the air with your empty beer can, and anytime someone wandered off into the woods to use the restroom, we’d throw the frisbee at them. What’s better than getting clocked in the head with a bright frisbee while you’re trying to pee? Probably a lot of things, but I can confirm that it was funny.
Aside from the punny name and novelty, the product itself is simple but genius — an LED light with two replaceable batteries lights up this frisbee and, consequently, the sky. The light operates with a single button, and the whole frisbee stays well-lit while flying. I went with the blue LED option because it’s my favorite color, but there are five colorways to choose from.
In addition to the nifty LED light, this frisbee is well balanced at 185g for consistent flight. Even if you happen to have had a few adult beverages, this product flies smoothly and evenly—trust me, we thoroughly tested that situation. Two things I would have liked to see on this product are recessed firewire for single finger and beer-can catches and glow-in-the-dark material for the frisbee itself. Other than that, Flashflight was a massive win in my book.
With an MSRP of $19.95, this frisbee is absolutely worth it—hands down. It kept a group of adults entertained for hours for seven days straight and it even proved to be an excellent flashlight in a pinch.
