Best Staple Guns In 2022
There are hundreds of jobs where a staple gun can come in handy. They’re used in carpentry, upholstery, carpeting, and much more. That’s why we’ve been looking for the best staple gun on the market. We’ve included traditional staplers, brad nailers, electric tools, compressed air tools, and even a USB chargeable stapler.
The Best Staple Gun
1WEN 61718 2-in-1 Pneumatic Brad Nailer & Stapler
When we’re choosing our Best Choice products, we are looking for a product that can do it all. They have to work well, be versatile, be affordable, and generally outperform the competition. That’s exactly what the WEN 61718 2-in-1 Nailer & Stapler does. You can spend considerably more on a machine like this and it will be you a better-quality tool, but this product is amazing quality for the price.
One of the main things we love about it is that fact that it’s a 2-in-1. This makes it perfect for beginner craftsmen, who don’t have hundreds of tools sitting around. It can punch both brad nails and staples into whatever you’re working with. Another main benefit is that the machine is pneumatic. That does mean you’ll have to buy an air compressor, but it makes the machine much more effective. Other features include a depth adjustment wheel, a large magazine that can hold 100 brad nails, and a comfortable rubber-grip handle. 2Porter-Cable US58 Upholstery Staple Gun
The Porter-Cable US58 is a stapler designed primarily for upholstery use. It could be used for other applications, but it works best when you’re working with furniture. One of the main reasons for this is that it uses 1/4-inch to 5/8-inch staples, which are perfect for holding down material to wood. Again, like the WEN 2-in-1 stapler, this is also a pneumatic machine that will require an air hose or air compressor. That will add a bit of cost if you don’t already own one.
A big reason for liking this product is how lightweight and easy-to-hold it is. You can tell that they’ve designed it with a busy craftsman in mind. It’s also much smaller than a lot of similar products, which adds to the ergonomics of the machine. This is a pretty serious upholsterer’s tool – if you’re working with furniture, this is the stapler for you. Our guide to the best glue guns features more useful tools like this, so check them out.

3Makita XTS01Z 18V LXT Crown Staple Gun
Makita is well-known as one of the best tool manufacturers in the world. But that’s not the only reason we chose the Makita XTS01Z as our Premium Product. Reputation aside, this is one of the best stapling tools money can buy. But you will need a lot of money to buy it. Plus, if the initial cost isn’t enough, you have to buy a Makita battery to power it (unless you already own a Makita tool).
That brings us on to the fact that this is an electric stapler. It’s much more suited for tradesmen that need to do difficult overhead installations and other tricky jobs. It works with any Arrow T50 type flat crown staples, which are strong enough for most jobs.
It’s the quality of this tool that you’re really paying for. The rugged aluminum housing, the spring-loaded driving mechanism, and everything else just works. It will fire off thousands of staples without ever missing a beat. Plus, it even has a little window to show you how many staples you’ve got left. If you’re a working tradesman, you can’t beat a tool like this. You will sure like some of the bast screw guns from our list, so take a moment to check them out.

4Stanley TRE550Z Electric Staple/Brad Nail Gun
Stanley is another well-known tool manufacturer, but they make considerably cheaper tools than Makita. The Stanley TRE550Z Electric Staple/Brad Nail Gun really impressed us as a budget 2-in-1 tool. It can be used with Stanley Sharpshooter TRA700 Series or Arrow T-50 heavy-duty staples, and 1/2-, 9/16- and 5/8-inch brads, making it one of the most versatile tools on this list.
It’s actually not hugely different to the WEN 2-in-1 stapler, except that you have to pay a bit more for the fact that it’s electric. You don’t need a battery with this staple gun because it comes with an impressive 8-foot power cord. It also has a pretty unique high/low power function that allows you to change the force for soft and hard materials. As you might have guessed from the price, this isn’t the best-quality tool on this list. However, as a versatile 2-in-1 machine for home use, it’s an excellent choice. You may also need some of the best air hammers from our list, so be sure to check them out.

5Hitachi N3804AB3 1/4 Inch Narrow Crown Stapler
Hitachi is a huge multinational conglomerate. They do everything from personal loans to smart TVs, and apparently crown staplers. Hitachi N3804AB3 1/4″ Narrow Crown Stapler is pretty close to the Makita in terms of quality and effectiveness. However, it’s pneumatic, which is a slight downside for anyone that doesn’t have access to an air compressor. But, if you do, you could save yourself $100 and get similar results.
Despite the size of this tool, it’s lightweight and perfectly balanced. You shouldn’t have any problem with the larger jobs that require holding the tool for extended periods. It’s also got a tool-free depth adjustment that sets the depth identically, for the material you’re working with. This improves control and means you can customize the depth to get the perfect results.
You can choose from two settings: bump fire mode, where the stapler will drive a staple every time the nose hits the material; and sequential fire mode, where you have to compress the trigger. This tool is absolutely ideal for tradesmen with access to a pneumatic power source. Perfect to always have in your tool box.

6BOSTITCH 651S5 7/16-Inch By 2-Inch Stapler
In our opinion, this next product is the best staple gun with pneumatic power on the market. When BOSTITCH 651S5 7/16-Inch by 2-Inch Stapler was released, it caused a bit of a stir in the stapling world (yes, that’s a thing), because it doesn’t require the user to put any pressure on the material. Instead, it shoots staples into the material accurately and with plenty of power. The benefit of this is that you don’t get any scuff marks on the material from where the stapler has come into contact.
It also has a few other features that make it super user-friendly. For example, when there’s a jam in the gun, you can clear it by flipping open the nose, without the need for tools. This is a common problem in powerful staple guns, so it’s a huge advancement. Plus, it’s very lightweight and has a contoured grip to make it fit nicely in the hand. Like with all high-end staple guns, it has an adjustable depth of drive to make each staple customizable. And, it has similar contact and sequential options to the Hitachi N3804AB3. 7NuMax SL31 18 & 16 Gauge Pneumatic 3-in-1 Nailer & Stapler
If you’re looking for true versatility, you’ll find it in the NuMax SL31. This is a nailer and stapler that is suitable for pretty much any job. Its 3-in-1 capability allows you to work with 18-gauge staples, 18-gauge brad nails & 16 -gauge finish nails. That means you can complete almost any job that requires you to nail or staple something. It is pneumatic, which means you’ll have to buy an air compressor if you don’t already have one.
Whilst this isn’t a professional standard tool, it’s good enough for DIY purposes and even hobbyists who want to achieve a pro-looking finish. The reason we wouldn’t recommend it for professional use is that you can get tools that are designed to do specific jobs. For example, a dedicated upholstery stapler will perform better than this tool when working with furniture. However, if you’re looking for a dependable and versatile DIY gift, this tool is a no-brainer.

Staple specs: 18-gauge staples (1/2″ to 1-5/8” long)

8Stanley TR150HL SharpShooter Heavy Duty Staple Gun
All of the staplers we’ve looked at so far have been powered by electricity or compressed air. But sometimes all you need is a bit of elbow grease. The Stanley TR150HL SharpShooter is a manually powered staple gun for those jobs that don’t need a power tool. It’s still surprisingly powerful and shoots the staples deep into most materials. Plus, you can choose from two settings depending on the material you’re working with.
One thing we really like about this tool is the easy-squeeze trigger. Unlike traditional staple guns, it’s easy to apply enough pressure, which reduces the risk of repetitive strain injury. It also has a useful anti-jam mechanism, so you don’t keep having to take it apart and pulling out rogue staples. The bottom line is that this is the best staple gun for small jobs. Because it’s so simple, it’s extremely robust and reliable. And they even back it up with a limited lifetime warranty! Don’t forget to also check out our guide to the best cordless impact wrenches.

9NEU MASTER Electric Staple Gun / Brad Nailer N6013
The NEU Master staple gun is a great budget electric staple gun and brad nailer. We haven’t found a better option at this low price because most of them are powered by compressed air. Electric tools might not be as powerful, but they’re much more convenient. It works with Staple T50 series and TRA700 series staples, as well as 18-gauge brad nail from 1/2” to 5/8”.
There are a few Amazon reviews that mention that the tool isn’t very consistent. However, we’d guess that people are asking a bit too much of it. At this price, it can only really be expected to work with softer materials. So, if you want a powerful brad nailer/ stapler, look elsewhere. On the plus side, it’s really easy to use. The magazine is quick to load, and you can adjust the power easily. The bottom line is, don’t buy this if you’re looking for a professional standard tool. If you need a handy little nailer/stapler tool, it should work fine. If you are looking for high-quality power tools, check out our guide to the best hammer drills and pick the one for your workshop.

10Werktough CSG01 Cordless Staple Gun DIY Electric Stapler
The Werktough CSG01 Cordless Staple Gun is attempting to bring staples guns into the 21st Century. It’s cordless and powered using a USB power supply. That means you can take it literally anywhere without worrying about the power cable behind you. This is useful if you don’t have a set workshop and move around a lot. On a full charge, it will only last for around 25 minutes (or 1000 staples as they put it), so it’s not really suitable if you use your stapler often.
This stapler is absolutely perfect for hobbyists and DIY enthusiasts. It’s also great for people that suffer from arthritis because it takes almost no pressure to press down on the trigger. It also comes with a carrying box and a USB charger. For more great tools like this, check out our top picks of the best random orbital sanders.
